Gifted and Talented
Highly able children should have opportunities to extend and enrich their school experience according to their
abilities. At Scopus we support a differentiated curriculum, which provides work at the appropriate level of
stimulation and challenge for all students.
Giftedness can apply in many areas, including English, art, music, mathematics, humanities, sport and languages.
Student profiling ensures we understand each child's particular strengths and interests. We offer our gifted
students a range of enrichment, extension and acceleration activities, either in the classroom or in small groups.
Students are also encouraged to participate in extra-curricular extension activities such as Future Problem
Solving, Tournament of Minds and Maths Talent Quest. Previous teams have enjoyed great success in these endeavors.
In the area of language, students are offered support to participate in state and national competitions.
Co-curricular activities and clubs, such as chess, Scrabble, creative writing and science, provide opportunities
within the school day for further challenge and enjoyment.
