Child Care Subsidy estimator

Below is a tool to help you with indicative approximate out-of-pocket costs for each of our kinder options based on the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) rate and the number of eligible activity hours per fortnight entered.

** The information provided on this website and by its tools is general in nature and does not constitute financial advice, including advice as to which package would best suit the needs of individual families. Parents should consider seeking independent advice from an accountant or other professional to take into account your particular circumstances.

Your eligible activity hours per fortnight (*see notes below regarding maximum hours per program): Your CCS Rate (enter as a number: i.e 50 for 50%. The maximum value allowed is 85 for the first or standard child, and 95 for subsequent children under the age of 5 who are in child care concurrently):
Kinder Only LDC 48
2024 Tuition Fees A$27,800.00 A$37,000
CCS
Out-of-pocket cost (before the $2050 government offset)

Maximum hours per program:

The Kinder only program attracts the subsidy for a maximum of 69 hours per fortnight.
The LDC 48 - Long Day Care 48 programs attract the subsidy for a maximum of 100 hours per fortnight.

The actual hours within a given fortnight may vary pending the number of days operating within that fortnight, and thus the actual out-of-pocket costs may differ slightly from the indicative figures here.

Please note:

  • The out-of-pocket costs cited above do not reflect
    • any discounts, such as family or pre-payment discounts that may apply;
    • the Victorian Government's Free Kinder Offset payment of $2000 per child offset (pro-rata) for eligible students, which is credited after the CCS has been applied. Students who are repeating Lower Kinder or who are claiming it at another centre, or who are on some visa types are not eligible to receive this payment.
  • Your CCS percentage is the amount that the government will subsidise. It will apply to the government's relevant hourly rate cap.
  • The 2023 daily rate is $151 for LDC (based on 236 charging days)  and $144 for kinder only (based on 185 charging days).
  • The ATO usually withholds 5% of the subsidy until after the relevant year's tax return has been submitted.
  • Families earning over $356,756 in the 2022/23 financial year are not eligible to receive the CCS.
  • From 10 July 2023, the household income cap will increase to $530,000 for the 2023/24 financial year.
  • For eligible families, second and subsequent children under the age of 5 in Approved Child Care may attract a higher CCS rate as assessed by Centrelink, to a maximum rate of 95%, depending on family income. Eligible families with a household income of $362,408 or more will receive the same CCS rate for all children.
  • The Kinder only program is charged from the start of Term 1 to the end of Term 4 within the academic year. Aftercare cost per session is $40, commencing 1 February, 2023 and Holiday program is $120 per day, commencing 3 April, 2023.
  • The LDC 48 program is charged from the start of Term 1 until the end of the January holiday program the following year.
  • CCS is not payable by Centrelink before the first day of physical attendance or after the last day of physical attendance either in the Kinder only or Long Day Care programs. Refer to Centrelink for full details of eligibility.
  • Please note that, other than in exceptional circumstances, your preferred booking option will remain in place for the whole year.
  • This calculator must be read and used in line with all the information provided in the Kinder program options FAQs.
