The Bilingual Program is a two-year immersive educational journey for students in Years 7 and 8. By integrating the Hebrew language directly into core curriculum, students move beyond traditional language study to acquire natural, real-world fluency. An academically rigorous and deeply rewarding pathway that empowers students to communicate confidently, think critically, and connect meaningfully with their heritage.

The Scopus Bilingual Experience
The Mount Scopus Bilingual Program is a two-year immersive educational journey for students in Years 7 and 8. By integrating the Hebrew language directly into core curriculum subjects including Science, Design Technology, Art, and Jewish Studies, alongside dedicated Hebrew language classes, students move beyond traditional language study to acquire natural, real-world fluency. It is an academically rigorous and deeply rewarding pathway that empowers students to communicate confidently, think critically, and connect meaningfully with their heritage.
A Supportive Cohort and Strong Community
A defining feature of the program is its unified cohort structure. Students remain together throughout their two years, cultivating an exceptionally close-knit and supportive peer community. As they navigate the rewarding challenges of a bilingual curriculum together, students encourage one another, build resilience, and forge lifelong friendships. This strong sense of belonging extends beyond the classroom through program initiatives, such as our dedicated annual Bilingual Camp, where students engage in authentic Hebrew immersion alongside Israeli madrichim, Sherut Leumi team members, and alumni leaders from Years 9 and 10.

Bilingual Camp
At Mount Scopus, the Bilingual Camp is an essential cornerstone of our students’ growth, offering an immersive experience where Hebrew is spoken throughout the entire retreat. Outside the familiar structure of the classroom, students discover abilities they didn’t know they had, learning to navigate new situations, support one another, and build authentic self-confidence while forming deep, lasting friendships.
By taking language learning beyond the school gates, the camp allows Hebrew to come alive as a vibrant, living language in real-life contexts. Through interactive team-building challenges, outdoor adventures, energetic evening programs, and spontaneous daily interactions with Israeli educators and student leaders (madrichim), students use Hebrew naturally and continuously. This constant immersion strengthens linguistic fluency, deepens cultural connection, and fosters a rich sense of community spirit (ruach) that continues to shape and inspire our bilingual learners long after they return to school.
