In 1949, Mount Scopus was established to serve the Melbourne Jewish kehillah as the
educational cornerstone of Jewish life, identity and commitment. We proudly continue to
honour and advance this sacred mission today and into the future.
Rooted in tradition, Mount Scopus fosters Jewish pride and prepares generations to
lead with integrity and purpose. Today, we are a vibrant, forward-thinking community
that balances a strong Jewish identity with dynamic learning whilst maintaining our
commitment to academic excellence, holistic development and community service.
At Mount Scopus, we are passionately committed to providing our students with engaging,
thought provoking and inspiring learning, based on Jewish values and experiences within a
Modern Orthodox and Zionist framework; empowering them to make an informed choice
as to the meaning of their Jewish identity and nurturing them to grow into mensches.
Motivated by a deep connection to those who came before us, and emboldened by a
Mount Scopus Jewish education, our students are equipped to go forth with strength and
